Interesting article. Group works leads to the average performance increasing, but the quality of the BEST solution tends to decrease. Making collaboration intermittent (regular/not constant) seems to reduce the decline in the quality of the best solution :

1/ There aren't many studies made on this, but one recent study finds that intermittent connection between people is the best way to problem solve. The full-on connection (e.g., solving problems close to the watercooler) does not produce the best results.

This paper is SUPER interesting and raises a lot of questions about how we can use it to build more effective engineering teams? How can we ensure that we are exposing people to exploration time while also sharing so that we raise the average bar of skills

8/ So nitpicking yields the worst kind of intermittent connection. You aren't sharing anything novel (and thus not providing the safety net of multiple POVs) while also reinforcing groupthink (by omission of useful feedback) and lowering ceiling. https://

We do this in @LambdaSchool Labs EU. We work in our @zoom_us break out rooms and meet thrice a day to sync up. only the host can move people around. so, We have enough friction that people can explore but not that much that they are siloed.
